About Us

JLG started life in Sutton, Surrey on 4th April 1986 by Paul Gilbert, who after a number of years working for the major installation companies, decided to take advantage of the Enterprise Initiative scheme and set up his own business. JLG came from the initials of then, baby daughter.

For the first three years JLG was involved with sub-contract and small security installations. The volume of JLGs' own work gradually increased by recommendations and a small amount of advertising. Operating from a solid engineering base JLG was one of the few companies able to take over existing systems and offer clients an alternative to the larger companies.

Employing installation and office staff, moving into office premises and meeting the requirement of the market place, the list of clients began to grow. The type of work ranged from Intruder, CCTV, access control systems to physical security and the client list included the Woolwich estate agent chain, Epsom Hospital, British Rail and Abbey Self Storage.

NACOSS accreditation was achieved in 1992 and JLG started to install uploading / downloading intruder alarm systems.
